JOHN DEROULET

JOHN DEROULET

Director of Revenue Management @ Wheelhouse

3 Takeaways:

  • Learn Immediately Applicable Tactics and Processes to utilize Revenue Management: Participants will learn an example of Daily, Weekly and Monthly Processes they can immediately implement in their company to start doing revenue management today.

  • Anticipate Practices to Build Out Over Time: Participants will be exposed to different processes and tactics that are effective at different times and different portfolio sizes and will see how these processes and tactics build on each other to support large portfolios, more markets and different seasons.

  • Make the most out of Limited Time: Participants will learn how to align these tactics with seasonality and their own schedules to be able to effectively use their valuable time and prioritize the most important and highest impact revenue management activities even when they are busy.

Revenue management is a complex field which many consider to be as much an “art” as a “science.” While intuition is helpful and Revenue Managers often develop their own practice and craft there are still many things that are consistent between what revenue managers do every day. This session will provide a framework for revenue management practice that can be implemented across all portfolio and skill levels allowing participants to take home specific processes they can introduce into their own company.

By exposing participants to specific tactics in data analysis and price intervention (such as Pick-Up Based Adjustments) and aligning these to regular time intervals (Daily, Weekly, Monthly) we will teach users how to optimize their portfolios in modular chunks that can provide the foundation for regular revenue management in their organizations along with a roadmap of what to build into as they grow. By then aligning these activities to their seasonality we will help participants plan and prioritize the time they use for revenue management across the year to give their limited revenue management time the highest impact possible.

In this session we will introduce various tactical approaches such as using Pick-Up Pacing, Monthly Post Mortems, Historical and Market Based Performance analysis; align the frequency and timing of these tactical approaches and have a straightforward discussion about the time commitment, portfolio size and market trends which best utilize these approaches.

Participants will walk out of this session with a toolbelt of 3-5 specific revenue management activities (and an idea of when to do them) that they can teach to their team and begin implementing in their organizations.
