OLIVER HEJNY
Describe your career in the vacation rental industry and how you reached your current position in the company.
I began my career in the vacation rental industry in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2019 as a housekeeper for a local property manager. Three years and a few promotions later, I became curious about the vendor side of things – and joined the sales team at Wheelhouse! In my role at Wheelhouse I help large-scale PMCs develop enhanced revenue management practices, oversee all our conference logistics, and support our European go-to-market strategy. In your opinion, what are the main current challenges in the vacation rental industry, and how do you think your company can help overcome them?
The global, tech-enabled vacation rental industry is not yet a mature one. The tech landscape is fragmented despite considerable roll-ups, making platform stability critical. PMC consolidation continues, though sophistication of revenue management is inconsistent across operators at scale. And with climate crises, regulation & regional conflict all challenging our industry in numerous ways, revenue managers must remain agile, proactive, and data-informed. There is no better RMS than Wheelhouse to help guide large portfolios through market fluctuations and competitive challenges.
What are your expectations for the 2023 edition of VRWS in Barcelona, and what makes you particularly interested in attending this specific edition?
VRWS is a renowned event in the European vacation rental industry. Its reputation precedes itself as an ideal environment for networking, education, and sales. Wheelhouse started as Lyric, a large-scale PMC based in North America. Now, with our focus solely on B2B revenue management software, we are making forays into Europe, currently supporting some of the largest teams in the UK, and increasingly, in Spain. Our sales presence in Europe is a response to large-scale PMCs’ serious appetite for alternatives to the current dynamic pricing options. So now, we are here to help.
Could you provide a brief preview of what attendees can expect from your participation during the Vacation Rental World Summit?
The Wheelhouse team is sending over our Founder & CEO, Andrew Kitchell, and our leading European sales representative, Oliver Hejny.
