Tim Rosolio

Vice President of Partner Success at Expedia Group

1. What do you do for a living and which part of your job do you enjoy the most?

I am the VP of Partner Success for Expedia Group’s vacation rental business. I’ve been in this role for a little more than two years now and I love having the chance to meet with our partners around the globe as we work together to provide the best traveler experiences for those staying in vacation rentals. We’re in the best business and I’m passionate about enabling people to have the greatest experiences in their lives while traveling with their families and friends, while also powering our partners and small, local businesses.

2. How does your company innovate or adapt to the evolving needs of the vacation rental space?

We recently completed a tech transformation to get all of Expedia Group’s brands on one tech stack. We did this to maximize tech opportunities for all our brands including Vrbo.     With this technology transformation, we’ve made a lot of progress and unlocked opportunities like the ability to share multi-unit apartments and condo from our Expedia inventory on Vrbo and we’re running more traveler AB tests than ever before, which helps us focus on growth, innovation and efficiency.

One of these innovations is our largest and most comprehensive rewards program, One Key. One Key unifies Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo, offering more value for travelers across flights, hotels, vacation rentals, activities and more. It is a rewards program you won’t find on any other vacation rental platform. Since launching in the U.S. last year, we have had more than 100 million travelers reap the benefits of One Key and we are excited about UK travelers being able to experience One Key now with other European countries getting access in the coming months.

3. How do you view the various predictions about AI’s impact on society, ranging from dystopian scenarios to transformative advancements, and how does your company approach or integrate AI technology?

AI is a tool…and it’s a powerful tool. The real unlock will be how people harness the power and interact with it.

Leveraging AI and machine learning to build smart products and services and ultimately deliver better experiences for travelers can now be applied across any aspect of the booking experience. AI for shopping can help travelers design personalized trip options, improve price tracking to find the most affordable deal and payment process for them, and improve customer service to quickly resolve issues such as booking cancellations.

One of Expedia Group’s latest AI endeavors is Romie. Romie is your roaming buddy – a groundbreaking AI assistant designed to be a travel agent, concierge, and personal assistant all in one. Romie is thoughtful and intentional, always there, ready to jump in and help at every step of your trip. Romie gets progressively intelligent – learning who you are, remembering what type of trips you like. The early alpha version of the Romie experience is currently available on EG Labs. The full Romie experience will include many more moments, and many more unique travel experiences in the future.

4. What would you like to achieve by attending the Vacation Rental World Summit 2024 in Porto with your company?

My goal is always the same for any conference and that is to have engaging conversations with our partners. I learn so much from those one-to-one interactions…more so than reviewing PPTs or Excel files. So, if you see me, come up and say hi; let’s talk about your business.

5. What are your passions, including any hobbies or sports, that you enjoy discussing and sharing with others outside the professional setting?

I have a few passions outside of work – even though one of my passions is being a vacation rental host! I enjoy playing golf and traveling to new places. I travel a lot for work and it’s nice to piggyback off that with some personal time as well so I can check out the local restaurant scene. I’m always getting wonderful recommendations from our partners.

You’ll have the opportunity to meet Tim directly at VRWS in Porto
