VRWS Leadership Interview of the Day
In approaching the 12th edition of the Vacation Rental World Summit, we’re releasing a series of interviews to leaders, key players and highly motivated people in our industry whose companies make a deep impact in our space and will be present at VRWS.
The aim is to get you some insight into these leaders and the company they founded, manage or work for, as well as getting some behind the scenes on their thinking, their motivation and their drive.

JASON ANASTASINIS
- What inspired you to enter the vacation rental industry?
I’ve always had a passion for travel, but it was during my time studying in London that I noticed a real shift—more people were choosing holiday rentals over hotels, especially travellers from the UK visiting destinations like Greece. At the same time, Greece was going through a property crisis, and I saw an opportunity to support local property owners by helping them turn their homes into a source of income.
That’s when the idea for TravelStaytion started to take shape. I realised there was a gap between traditional real estate and the evolving needs of modern travellers, and technology was the key to bridging it. I didn’t come from a tech background, but I was driven to create a platform that could offer consistency, trust, and professionalism in the vacation rental space. That mission still drives us today.
- What sets your company apart in the vacation rental industry, and how do you ensure you stay ahead of the competition?
TravelStaytion stands out by prioritising quality, consistency, professionalism and a traveller-first approach. We partner exclusively with a verified network of professional property providers, which allows us to maintain rigorous standards across our portfolio of over 120,000 properties in more than 130 countries worldwide. We deliver safe, clean, well-equipped stays that meet traveller expectations, build confidence through transparent communication, accurate listings and verified compliance, and secure long-term value via fair, sustainable practices that benefit both travellers and property managers.
To stay ahead of the competition, we combine our focus on quality with cutting-edge technology to deliver a seamless and reliable booking experience at scale. And now, we are formalising this approach through the Stay Standards Protocol (SSP), launching in October 2025. Based on three pillars, Safeguarding the Experience, Inspiring Trust, and Upgrading Value, SSP is the industry’s first certification framework verified by an independent global assessor, giving travellers and property managers an external seal of trust that elevates our credibility above self-policed marketplaces.
.
More than just a certification, SSP is an integrated suite of tools, services, and step-by-step playbooks that streamlines the full operational lifecycle for managers, reducing costs and letting them focus on hospitality rather than admin.
This positions TravelStaytion as the biggest collection of verified properties, powered by a quality-centric community of property managers.
- If you attended the 2024 Vacation Rental World Summit in Porto, what was the most exciting or valuable takeaway for you? And looking ahead to the 2025 edition in Rome, what are you hoping to gain or experience this time?
The 2024 Vacation Rental World Summit in Porto was a pivotal moment for TravelStaytion. It was a highly productive event where we not only deepened our relationships with existing partners, but also agreed on new strategic directions and laid the groundwork for several upcoming initiatives and new partnerships. I also had the opportunity to share the stage with our partners, Homes & Villas by Marriott, and elaborate on common values and growth strategies.
What stood out most was the level of alignment across the industry around quality, professionalism, and the role of technology in shaping the future of vacation rentals. We left Porto with numerous new potential customers, meaningful conversations with potential partners, and a clear sense of where the industry is heading.
Another key takeaway from the event was what could be described as a growing regulatory paradox: while more countries are introducing stricter rules and frameworks for short-term rentals, the volume of available properties continues to rise. This contrast underscores the increasing need for structure, consistency, and professionalism across the sector—an area where we’re actively focused through our platform and partnerships.
Looking ahead to the 2025 edition in Rome, I’m focused on continuing these conversations—identifying new growth opportunities, strengthening strategic collaborations, and presenting in further detail our quality assurance protocol; ensuring TravelStaytion remains at the forefront of innovation in our sector. It’s an exciting time for the industry, and we look forward to playing a leading role in what comes next.
- Beyond business, what’s one experience or destination that left a lasting impression on you, and why?
Cambodia, and more specifically Krong Siem Reap, left a lasting impression on me. Its authenticity, the depth of its history, and the immersive, experience-oriented nature of the destination make it truly unforgettable. It’s a place where every corner tells a story, from the energy of the local markets to the awe-inspiring temples of Angkor Wat.
- What’s one fun fact, hidden talent, or little-known secret about you that other attendees should know to spark a great conversation with you?
One fun fact about me is that I used to compose music and had a band back in my teenage years. These days, I’m still passionate about discovering new music, catching great live concerts, and exploring low-key music venues. And of course, I’m always up for swapping Spotify playlists—feel free to share yours!
