Describe your career in the vacation rental industry and how you reached your current position in the company.

I have been working in the digital sector for more than 15 years experiencing the digital transformation of the last decade and since 2018 I have been focusing on the vacation rental industry with Traum by OYO as International Key Account Manager and Country Manager for Spain-Portugal. Traum by OYO, founded in 2001, is a leading German vacation rental platform with around 45 million holidaymakers yearly and since 2019 part of the OYO Hotels & Homes Group, one of the world’s largest providers of hotels & holiday rentals.

In your opinion, what are the main current challenges in the vacation rental industry, and how do you think your company can help overcome them?

The main challenge facing our industry is to acknowledge the current constant global changes and local regulations with high impact as the new normal and being able to adapt quickly to them. Therefore, it is essential to equip yourself with all necessary tech tools and know-how to drive your business and react fast to these changes, and thus improve the management of your property and simultaneously the guest experience. The good news is that unlike just a few years ago, today our industry has professionalised and has multiple technological tools and services at your disposal, to automate and centralise processes, improving efficiency, increasing your profit margins, your visibility and distribution. Moreover, rising competition helps to further develop our industry.  

Therefore, conferences like the VRWS are an ideal platform for knowledge exchange, networking and discover all new tech innovations and services offered on the market. 

Traum by OYO helps property managers and guests to tackle the complexity of the new normal, by maintaining your rates more competitive and affordable. In fact, we keep our subscription fee steady in the last years, allowing our hosts and guests to save money, avoiding commission, and ensuring higher contribution margin for our clients. What are your expectations for the 2023 edition of VRWS in Barcelona, and what makes you particularly interested in attending this specific edition?

I expect from the 2023 edition of VRWS in Barcelona, much like previous VRWS conferences, an excellent opportunity to reconnect with our clients and to establish colloborations with new property managers. It is a valuable occasion for engaging with long-term partners and forging relationships with new ones. 

This particular edition in Barcelona Spain is something special to me, since it is my market and Spain is one of the most attractive destinations for the German Guests. 
Moreover since last year we have expanded our Connectivity Partner integrations allowing the most efficient and fastest onboarding for clients attending the VRWS. And finally, launching our international marketplaces this year will open new doors to our international property managers.
