In approaching the 10th edition of the Vacation Rental World Summit, we’re releasing a series of interviews to leaders, key players and highly motivated people in our industry whose companies make a deep impact in our space and will be present at VRWS.
The aim is to get you some insight into these leaders and the company they founded, manage or work for, as well as getting some behind the scenes on their thinking, their motivation and their drive.
NILS MATTISSON
Describe your career in the vacation rental industry and how you reached your current position in the company.
Hi! I’m Nils—one of the Co-Founders of Minut. I’m an engineer and started my career at Apple in Cupertino before starting Minut with my Co-founders, Fredrik, Marcus, and Martin. We’ve made it our mission to make home-sharing work better for everyone: hosts, guests and neighbors alike.Â
The first service we launched was noise monitoring, which is now used by tens of thousands of hosts in over 100 countries to help protect peace in the neighborhood. We never stop working to improve our product and in addition to noise, we now help hosts monitor occupancy, guest comfort, cigarette smoke and more — always while protecting guest privacy.
In your opinion, what are the main current challenges in the vacation rental industry, and how do you think your company can help overcome them?
The vacation rental industry is still young, exciting and fast growing. In some ways, it has yet to find its place within the regulatory framework set up for the broader hospitality industry. This presents unique challenges for hosts to navigate.Â
At Minut we strive to help hosts get ahead of issues like noise and nuisance that could otherwise turn public opinion against the industry. Vacation rentals are great for guests and hosts and we believe it can be a great benefit to the local communities as well.Â
What are your expectations for the 2023 edition of VRWS in Barcelona, and what makes you particularly interested in attending this specific edition?
We look forward to hearing how others in the industry are working to meet the challenges posed by the vacation rental industry at the Vacation Rental World Summit in Barcelona! It’s always great to meet leaders of the industry in person and discuss the ways in which we can work together to unlock the hidden potential of vacation rentals.Â
Could you provide a brief preview of what attendees can expect from your participation during the Vacation Rental World Summit?
Minut will be represented by our team members Alondra, Leo, and Katrin, covering everything from Product to Partnerships. They are keen to speak to hosts and property managers interested in learning more about Minut and how we can make their operations easier!
