Vasilis Iliakis
- What inspired you to enter the vacation rental industry?
I’ve been involved in this industry since its early days, when it was still very much uncharted territory. That made it incredibly exciting — we weren’t just building products; we were helping shape the entire ecosystem. From defining workflows and standards to influencing regulations, it felt like we were laying the groundwork for something with massive potential. Being part of that journey was, and still is, deeply rewarding.
- What sets your company apart in the vacation rental industry, and how do you ensure you stay ahead of the competition?
At webhotelier | primalres, we bring nearly two decades of deep expertise in travel technology, grounded in a true understanding of hospitality. Our rentals platform, loggia, is an all-in-one vacation rental solution trusted by 12,800+ rentals in 39 countries. But we’re more than just loggia.

- If you attended the 2024 Vacation Rental World Summit in Porto, what was the most exciting or valuable takeaway for you? And looking ahead to the 2025 edition in Rome, what are you hoping to gain or experience this time?
Porto was eye-opening. It was inspiring to see the diversity of strategies among property managers, each with their own vision for growth and positioning within the industry. What struck me most was how many different paths can lead to success in this space.
For the 2025 edition in Rome, I’m looking forward to seeing how those approaches evolve, especially as the landscape becomes more regulated. It’s a chance to connect with peers, learn from each other, and explore how innovation can thrive even within tighter frameworks.
- Beyond business, what’s one experience or destination that left a lasting impression on you, and why?
I’m always drawn to places where cars aren’t allowed, small islands, or remote villages where life moves at a different pace. These destinations offer a rare kind of serenity and authenticity. They give you the space to truly disconnect, reflect, and be present. That ability to slow down is something I deeply value, and something I think travelers are increasingly seeking, too.
- What’s one fun fact, hidden talent, or little-known secret about you that other attendees should know to spark a great conversation with you?
I have an oddly specific talent for spotting the best seat in any café — the one with the perfect lighting, minimal foot traffic, and just the right view. It’s my personal ritual wherever I travel, and I’ll happily debate the merits of window seats versus back corners over coffee. So if you’re looking for a quiet spot to chat during the summit — I’m your person!
