VRWS Leadership Interview of the Day

Describe your career in the vacation rental industry and how you reached your current position in the company.

I’ve spent over 20 years in online travel, the last 8 within the vacation rental industry. Before joining Guesty as the EMEA Sales Director, I spent 5 years at Airbnb heading up their supply efforts across Northern Europe,  Middle East and Africa. 

In your opinion, what are the main current challenges in the vacation rental industry, and how do you think your company can help overcome them?

The travel industry is a powerful and successful industry, but it sometimes feels that the technology lags behind other sectors. There is a lot we can do collectively to contribute to growing the industry sustainably in the future, while also improving the operational excellence of those who hold the keys.

Our aim at Guesty is to empower hospitality entrepreneurs to get back to their foundations and support them to ensure guests have a magical experience by providing them with technology which simplifies the complexities of managing their business today.

There are other topics which are top of mind that I will discuss with my panel, legislation, building a direct business and scaling a property management business across multiple geographies. 

What are your expectations for the 2023 edition of VRWS in Barcelona, and what makes you particularly interested in attending this specific edition?

I’m very excited! This event has gone from strength to strength under Antonio’s leadership and so first and foremost it’s a pleasure to be a part of it. 

Barcelona is a beautiful, diverse city and its where the first VRWS was hosted so great to return there again. It’s always a pleasure to speak to our community and get feedback on how we can continue to ensure that we create solutions that match their needs. The two days of the summit are packed with high-quality speakers covering all the hot topics, and I’m looking forward to learning about how attendees view the future of the vacation rental industry and ensuring that everything we build at Guesty has their feedback at its core. 

Could you provide a brief preview of what attendees can expect from your participation during the Vacation Rental World Summit?

I will host a panel with three people I deeply respect. Attendees can expect to hear valuable tips on how to scale their business and adapt to the changes we see within our industry. I’m also there to listen to ensure that everything we build is built with our community as the centre of it.
