VRWS Leadership Interview of the Day

In approaching the 11th edition of the Vacation Rental World Summit, we’re releasing a series of interviews to leaders, key players and highly motivated people in our industry whose companies make a deep impact in our space and will be present at VRWS.

The aim is to get you some insight into these leaders and the company they founded, manage or work for, as well as getting some behind the scenes on their thinking, their motivation and their drive.

NICOLA ANGIONI

Manager, Key Accounts EMEA @ Airbnb
  1. What do you do for a living and which part of your job do you enjoy the most?

I lead the Southern Europe Key Account Management Team, a team of talented Key Account Managers located across Europe.

In our day by day we connect with large Property Managers and Software Providers to help them grow and offer great stays on Airbnb.

The part I enjoy the most is connecting with our partners and hearing about the results of our collaborations to drive innovation and excellent hospitality.

  1. How does your company innovate or adapt to the evolving needs of the vacation rental space?

Airbnb is not only a platform, but also a noun and a verb and so a synonym of vacation rental and hosting. In terms of innovation, recently we took a huge step forward on connecting hosting with reliability with the launch of Guest Favorites, a collection of the most-loved homes on Airbnb based on ratings, reviews, and reliability data. We’re already seeing a positive impact, with over 100 million nights booked at Guest Favorite listings since launch (source).

  1. How do you view the various predictions about AI’s impact on society, ranging from dystopian scenarios to transformative advancements, and how does your company approach or integrate AI technology?

I’m excited by the impact technological progress can have on our lives and on the hospitality industry in particular.

I believe AI will help us offer more and more customized experiences and focus on creating added value through personal connection.

Airbnb recently acquired GamePlanner AI, from the creators of Siri and is integrating AI in a variety of areas from product development to customer service (source). I’m really optimistic about AI

  1. What would you like to achieve by attending the Vacation Rental World Summit 2024 in Porto with your company?

My goal here is to connect with our key account partners on a personal and professional level and listen attentively to what are the “top of minds” from the whole community of hosts attending in Porto to understand how we can best support them.

  1. What are your passions, including any hobbies or sports, that you enjoy discussing and sharing with others outside the professional setting?

As I live in the city of Milan and often travel for work across Barcelona, Paris, Berlin and London, I really enjoy spending my free-time in nature, be it in the sea learning to surf, or hiking in the mountains. I also love any type of sport which involves following a ball in a court and I recently got passionate about tennis. Look forward to meeting you all at VRWS!

You’ll have the opportunity to meet Nicola and the Airbnb team directly at VRWS in Porto
