Rod Fitts is President and founder of the American Vacation Rental Owners’ Association (AVROA). Founded in 2011, AVROA today is an organization representing owners’ and managers’ interests around the world.
Before AVROA, Rod founded and operated a trade school that transported education into automotive and steel companies in the United States. At the time the school was forced to close due to the financial crisis in 2008 it was teaching 1500 students a year in 10 states and had improved the skills of over 17,000 steel workers, automotive workers and veterans.
Rod has a degree in Economics from Lake Erie College, an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College and over 30 years’ experience in businesses development.
In addition to managing AVROA, Rod owns and manages two vacation rentals in Gulf Shores, Alabama, USA.
“I feel that all the experience I have had in business over the years has brought me to this point and I feel very fortunate that I have yet another opportunity to build an organization with the potential to help so many people and for such a long time.”
Facing Local Regulations, Becoming Self-Reliant and Finding the Association to Back You Up
What if there was an organization whose main goal is to support your vacation rental business rather than increase the wealth of its shareholders? What if this organization would provide you with the tools you need to thrive in an increasingly difficult and dynamic industry rather than reaping big bonuses for its executives?
Today Vacation Rental Owners and Managers represent one of the largest groups of people with similar business interests in the world that are completely unorganized. Imagine the power an organization that size would have to negotiate pricing for goods and services, advocate for your rights and provide education and research.
In this workshop, Rod Fitts will bring on stage two of AVROA’s members to discuss:
- best practices and strategies to make your VR Business more Self Reliant and less dependent on big listing sites and OTAs.
- the tools to use to give owners and managers a voice in the development of local regulations.
- the current status of AVROA, where it stands today and where it is going.
Whether you’ve already been directly hit by unfavorable regulations trying to smack your business down, or you’re suffering from an increasing dependence on big listing sites and OTAs which determine the future of your Vacation Rentals, this session aims to showing you what you can do next to ensure you get the reins of your business back in your hands.
